My educational philosophy and how i plan to teach my students

The educational philosophy I align myself with would be existentialism. My goal as a teacher is to give my students something to look forward to. A future that maybe they themselves have not pictured. The goal of existentialism is have them search for purpose, give them individual freedoms and teach some responsibility. One classroom activity I feel would be having students write a paper on character-dilemmas. This will allow students to explore dilemmas characters face throughout a story and allow the students to reflect and discuss if what the character did was right or wrong along with how the character developed through the story. This will help with their sense of morality giving ethical dilemmas a character faces and how they feel he or she made the right decision in that moment. Another activity that would be good for students especially when it comes to critical thinking as well as other skills would be what if scenarios. Give them scenarios about characters in books or current/ past events in history, making a what if scenario for what could've happened. This would be a good way for them to think about decision making and freedoms they have on a deeper scale.

scale.
